“Melusina, take me away.”
For those of you who remember the 80s Calgon commercials, you’re familiar with the brilliant advertising campaign featuring women in various stages of undress preparing for a soak in Calgon-mixed bath water. Despite the hokeyness of those television ads, the Calgon ad wizards were on to something: Relaxation sells. We all want an escape after a long day at work, and if the Calgon gods promises to melt our stress away, why shouldn’t we try it?
I feel the same way about my first jar of Tranquility Natural Body Cream from Melusina’s Apothecary owned by Etsy Team Columbus leader, Heather. Not only is it advertised as a relaxation cream, it follows through and really is a relaxation cream.
As a lotion connoisseur, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been disappointed by a stress-relief lotion, but I can tell you that the soothing notes of lavender and bergamot in Melusina’s lotion have a calming effect on me. The serum has a light, fresh scent and a creamy texture that’s absorbed quickly by your skin. There’s no oily or sticky residue on my hands after using it. I even keep a small sample with me in my purse for those times when I need a quick pick-me-up.
My boyfriend, on the other hand, uses the same lotion in the same scent around his lips. For some reason, a medication that he takes daily dries out the perimeter of his lips, causing a pink ring to form around them. He’s tried everything to get rid of the dry, chapped ring to no avail until Heather offered him a free sample of her Tranquility lotion (which you can probably guess is where I confiscated my purse sample). After only a few days, his skin began to clear up and the pink ring was only a distant memory.
